What is shortwave radio?
 

From a purely technical point of view, shortwave radio refers to those
frequencies between 3 and 30 MHz. Their main characteristic is their
ability
to "propagate" for long distances, making possible such worldwide
communications as international broadcasting and coordination of
long-distance
shipping.

From a social point of view, shortwave radio is a way to find out what the
rest of the world thinks is important. Many countries broadcast to the
world
in English, making it easy to find out what a given country's position is on
those things it finds important. Shortwave radio can also provide a way to
eavesdrop on the everyday workings of international politics and commerce.

Sanjaya is one of the Few people who post regurlarly on Shortwave related
issues;
so don't kill file her..
& BTW, Propagation for Radio New Zealand ( 15.720 ) has been very good lately;
and ..
on WBCQ ( 7.415) last night they played an old tape of " The Lone Ranger" ,
followed by tapes of " Jack Benny" and then " Jean Sheperd".

You forgot the THIRD Shortwave Point-of-View those that are into
the "Hobby" of Shortwave Radio. Here is the 'basis' of the Problem
related to the Diversity of Postings, both On-Topic and Off-Topic,
that can be found on the "Rec-Radio-Shortwave" NewsGroup.

Hobbyist can be passive, Active and sometimes FANATICS !

commerce are discussed on shortwave radio then they are acceptable

Listen, "George", I can assure you that the vast majority of us don't come
to this group to view the latest public displays of the delusions of all the
head cases that dominate this NG. Your opinions mean nothing. Politics are
never "discussed" here, bizarre psychological aberrations are revealed here.
Between the wacko posts of the type you prefer, and the constant
