I don't have a problem with that at all, provided that the radio manufacturer at least publishes the command-set, API, something... ICOM, to the best of my knowledge for the PCR-1000, has not "officially" published any details that would allow you to write your own control application(s). You have to "sniff" out the values on your own, as best you can. Since Drake doesn't publish the software, I wonder if they at least provide enough info on the firmware for you to publish your own, either freely or for a price?
