Default Professional car radios installation

I'm about to buy a new car (Toyota Camry) and want to install my shortwave,
satellite, and amateur radios neatly. I notice the car has a large shelf
below the center console in front of the floor mounted gearshift -- a good
place for a few rigs to fit?

A couple places like Galls and Jotto sell mobile radio racks like the kind
used in police vehicles. I'm not sure whether I want to go this route,
though. Each radio is a different dimension, and some have removable heads,
so the Xmtr/Rcvr units can mount in the trunk. I do know that I don't want
to rip out the factory installed radio unit in the dashboard.

Has anybody had their extra radios professionally installed and if so, how,
and in what kind of car?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, First thing is to make sure they know how to properly wire the
rigs;
with new cars' domputer controlled systems, your auto could be severy
damaged. Try looking for an independent shop thats been in business
for a while, Don't go to a chyain operation (Circuit City) etc. You
might ask your
dealership for a reccomendation. Also don't forget proper antenna
installation and cable routing. On some autos you may need an upgrade
to a more powerful alternator, and posiblr an additional fuse box.

In my area (Maryland) I know of only one business that has over 40
years experience witheauto radios (mostly dtereos)and
aalarm systems and they have the proper equipment to do installations.

G0ood luck...

Thanks, Charlie. Since I live in your area (No. VA), can you tell me who
the one business is that you refer to?

David,

County Radio
Belair Road
Parkville, MD

Call phone info for number.

Give them a call and speak to a techniotion, they're very knowledgable
and nice to deal with. When (and if ) you make an appointmemnr it
will take a few hours I'm sure
but there a few decent places to grab coffe or a snack. They're
parking area is on the left of the building thru a driveway. Take MD
695 to the
Belair Road Exit it says Parkville not the one that says Bel Air .
It's about ten minutes off the exit on the right, Belair Road is a
busy road durning the day.

|PS: I'm not an employee or owner of the above
business, just a happy longtime custoomer.
