to read differing political opinions here. Keeping an open mind, one can
learn something from even someone they don't normally agree with.

However, what has been going on in here lately is simply a lot of childish
"my dad's better than your dad". There's been no discussion of issues, only
bashing of each other's political beliefs (and much of it hasn't even been
to that level). Both sides are only parroting what someone else has said
without giving any thought to it whatsoever. Mindless sheep are still
mindless sheep whether they follow Bush or Kerry. There has been wholesale
corruption of government and of minimization of our Constitutional rights
since 9/11. This is wrong. But you know what?? I don't see where Kerry will
be any better.

In the last election, I didn't vote for either major candidate. One didn't
know the English language, the other was a pathological liar. In this
election, the incumbant has become less than trustworthy, and the other
candidate couldn't make a decision and stick with it if his life depended on
it.

So, how about, instead of calling each other names, we start looking
legitimately at the issues, from both sides, and start doing something about
them ourselves.. after all, it IS supposed to be US that have the real power
in the US. The politicians are supposed to be there to do what WE want, not
to make US do what THEY want. How did representative government ever
degrade into something where we don't elect someone to represent us to the
rest of the people, but instead elect who we will have to dictate and
micromanage our lives?

Let's grow up and see that not everything the conservatives or the liberal
say is gospel, but neither is it evil. Both sides have good sections of
their platforms, what we somehow need to do is bring those good sections
together into something positive for everyone.. isn't that what this country
is supposed to be about anyway?

I'm worried about the National Debt and that fact that it is growing.
How can we stop that from happening without needing a large jar of
Kool-aid?

Well I don't really see many of the political posts much these days
because my killfile blocks all the garbage posts. These people only
bash political parties but never actually discuss any of the real
issues which affect real people. So SPAM is what it truly is, I also
killfile the authors of certain posts and the author of this original
thread is being killfilled so that the Shortwave related discussions
only appear on my list.

Usenet is a terrible place for friendly political/religious discusion. But
then again so is almost any venue.
