to read differing political opinions here. Keeping an open mind, one can
learn something from even someone they don't normally agree with. However, what has been going on in here lately is simply a lot of childish "my dad's better than your dad". There's been no discussion of issues, only bashing of each other's political beliefs (and much of it hasn't even been to that level). Both sides are only parroting what someone else has said without giving any thought to it whatsoever. Mindless sheep are still mindless sheep whether they follow Bush or Kerry. There has been wholesale corruption of government and of minimization of our Constitutional rights since 9/11. This is wrong. But you know what?? I don't see where Kerry will be any better. In the last election, I didn't vote for either major candidate. One didn't know the English language, the other was a pathological liar. In this election, the incumbant has become less than trustworthy, and the other candidate couldn't make a decision and stick with it if his life depended on it. So, how about, instead of calling each other names, we start looking legitimately at the issues, from both sides, and start doing something about them ourselves.. after all, it IS supposed to be US that have the real power in the US. The politicians are supposed to be there to do what WE want, not to make US do what THEY want. How did representative government ever degrade into something where we don't elect someone to represent us to the rest of the people, but instead elect who we will have to dictate and micromanage our lives? Let's grow up and see that not everything the conservatives or the liberal say is gospel, but neither is it evil. Both sides have good sections of their platforms, what we somehow need to do is bring those good sections together into something positive for everyone.. isn't that what this country is supposed to be about anyway? -- Illigitimus non tatum carborundum (Don't let the *******s wear you down) |

Do they allow you to vote in the Korean erection? And why would it be important to know Engrish? ;-) dxAce |

There's always something interesting in the ham/shortwave NG's. Ever since RH cleaned the kooks from off of ham radio 75 and 20 meters Usenet has been a 24/7 nuthouse. (...well, sort of) "After years of drooling on himself and complaining that blueberry pancakes attack him at night, ex-President Ronald Reagan finally succumbs to the ravages of dotering stupidity. A grateful nation orders a #3 with Biggie Fries and moves on...." - Scopia Futori in alt.tasteless |

![]() I applaud your optimism. However (not to berate the obvious), it's been tried and found to be an act of utter futility to attempt a reasoned discussion on most any subject -much less politics- in any usenet forum regardless of best intentions. I predict any reasoned discourse on politics would start off slow, and taper-off/degrade from there. Although I think you (B.A.) would have a better chance than most; my hat's off to you or anyone else that could pull it off. -=jd=- I could not agree more with a single post since I began following this group. However, I feel my time spent here establishes, to some degree, the level of my intellect, and very regretfully so. Good luck, Brenda Ann. Brian |

From http://myrockport.com/world.htm Robotender A popular bar had a new robotic bartender installed. A fellow came in for a drink and the robot asked him, 'What's your IQ?' The man replied, '150.' So the robot proceeded to make conversation about Quantum physics, string theory, atomic chemistry, and so on. The man listened intently and thought, 'This is really cool.' The man decided to test the robot. He walked out the bar, turned around, and came back in for another drink. Again, the robot asked him, 'What's your IQ?' The man responded, '100.' So the robot started talking about football, baseball, and so on. The man thought to himself, 'Wow, this is amazing.' The man went out and came back in a third time. As before, the robot asked him, 'What's your IQ?' The man replied, '50.' The robot then said, 'So, you gonna vote for Bush again?' |

Well OK - I would agree that we can have an educated political discussion right here on RRS although my dad can take anyone's dad. I'm worried about the National Debt and that fact that it is growing. How can we stop that from happening without needing a large jar of Kool-aid? |
