Poor quality control is nothing new. I like to fix up old tube radios, and
I've found all sorts of factory defects such as miswiring, poor soldering,
poor mechanical fits, etc. Tracking errors aren't uncommon, and it seems
there isn't any discrimation in price class. My two best trackers are a
Hallicrafters S-40A and a S-38. The tracking on my more expensive SX-62 and
TW-1000 is only so-so and is only right on at two or three places on the
dial.
