It's hard to go wrong with one as an entry level set, I'd say. (And, unlike the predecessor, it encourages the use of presets for SW.) It's the most inexpensive full-featured SW receiver (including truly sideband selective SSB and synch), has good ergonomics (it's a Sony after all), and performance isn't bad at all. Of course it does have its weaknesses (like 2nd IF imaging problems and not as good strong signal handling as more expensive receivers), but all in all it's certainly not a bad deal in its class. Stephan PS: As DRM mods have shown, the venerable 7600G/GR has lower 1st LO phase noise than the AKD Target HF3 entry-level tabletop... Thanks Stephan. But if I have to choose among ICF-7600GR and ICF 2010, what would be your recommendations |
