Default Ramadan

Ramadan begins this year on either October 15 or 16. I checked a few sites and
come up with the two different dates.

Look for extended broadcast sckeds from countries that celebrate Ramadan.

Depends on the Moon, Sunset and if they can read or not as to the date.

And, I wonder, like the equinox (tomorrow) whether the date is based on
where you are located when it happens?

Mark.

The equinox happens at the same time for everyone.
See:

for a good discription.

Same exact 'time' perhaps, but not necessarily the same 'date'.

Just like Ramadan.

It depends on where in the world one is at the precise 'time'.

Terry,

Thanks for the lesson. But, as dxAce has already said, the equinox will
happen at a precise time, as the sun crosses the equator (either
North-to-South or South-to-North). So depending on where you are on the
planet, the local time will differ. As will the sidereal (non-mean time)
time at your location.

Mark.
