Default Tripoli Radio...

Tripoli Radio, MWARA-AFI, on 11300 kHz USB. Coming into Auckland, New
Zealand currently (05:50 UTC).

Just wondered if you folk in North America can hear this?

Mark.

Hi Mark-

Here on Long Island, NY, USA I can receive Tripoli, N'djamena, Khartoum and
Cairo in the AFI net 11300 kHz on an almost regular basis. Best reception seems
to be between 2300 - 0100 UTC. Signal strength is only fair but usually high
enough above the noise level to provide decent copy.

Excellent. Yes, I could receive this AFI net when I lived in Germany, as you
say, very reliably. But its a bit more challenging from NZ.

Mark.

Coincidentally, just tonight, at 2230 UTC Tripoli was coming in unusually
strong; with Cairo and possibly Jedda considerably under on 11300 kHz.

Which MWARA nets are good at your location? I'd love to try for them here!

Ken,

You can try for MWARA SP (South Pacific) on 8867 and 17904 during local day
time and 5643 and 3467 at night. As a propagation indicator, you can listen
on 8828, 6679, 13282 for the VOLMET broadcasts from Auckland, Hong Kong,
Tokyo and Honolulu.

Also, MWARA NP on 5667 during local night-time. Another good Volmet is 11387
/ 6676, you can hear Australian Volmet (recently renamed) and Bangkok Volmet
etc.

Mark.

Thanks Mark.

I'll let you know if I can copy these stations here in NY. Should be a
challenge!
