The correct terminology is 'Broadband Power Line' or BPL. They mean the same thing. The ARRL uses both terms in some of it's literature. http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2003/04/30/2/more.html For whatever reason, BPL is used mostly in the US, and PLC is more common abroad. There's a comedic theory which states that hard consonants are funnier than soft consonants. Based on that theory, the term BPL could be as much as 100% funnier than PLC Frank Dresser. I've found that using the term 'BPL' in a web search will produce more results than 'PLC'. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |

But if you really want to be pedantic, the correct term is actually BPLC - Broadband Power Line Communications, according to the Australian Communications Authority that is... The always helpful ARRL expands these acronyms: "(BPL) also goes by a few other names and acronyms: Power Line Communications (PLC, Power Line Telecommunications (PLT), and Power Line Broadband (PLB) are terms also used. " http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/HTML/plc/ But just what is the ARRL, anyway? They make it clear on the same webpage: "The ARRL--The National Association for Amateur Radio-- " Now that's funny!
