Is this why the broadband over powerlines is getting all set to ruin reception? It creates broadband noise in the vicinity of power lines. What about the new digital broadcast technology? You need a subscription. Depends. IBOC, the digital capability being added to AM and FM in the US, is free. Satellite radio subscribers have addressable receivers which store activation data and update it off the air. There is no key card.
