Default Icom R-75 Question

I recently acquired a stock, unmodified R-75 receiver. I enjoy
listening to ham radio operators talking on AM phone. Which
mod,. filter(s) & settings would you suggest for the above? I
posted this question to the R-75 group in yahoo but did not as
of yet get a response. Thank You

For hams you dont need any mods at all. The R-75 has a sync detector that
is not effective. Its audio quality can also stand to be improved. Both
issues can be improved with simple, inexpensive and reversible mods. Kiwa
offers those two mods as well as a few others for the R-75. See the link
below.

I have an R-75 and I have both the synch mod and the audio mod. Neither of
those two problems I mentioned will be a factor in listening to hams or any
sort of ssb utility. If you also like to listen to sw broadcast too, the
mods will help.

How does the receiver know the difference between sw broadcasts and the AM

hams the poster inquired about?

I use both AM sync and up to 9 KHz wide filters for the AM hams. Their AM
audio is many times much better than what we hear from the commercial
broadcasters. Try 3885 KHz evenings and 7290, 7295 afternoons and evenings.
In addition, a good wide range external speaker can make even a mediocre RX
sound very nice.
