om... his tuning jumps frequency when using the knob Sounds like the freq. tuning encoder may be bad? It is an Oak Grigsby optical encoder. Real easy to fix if that is the problem. I am suprised they did not send him another encoder to try before sending the receiver to them.I assume he did call service before sending it to them. When I bought my Omni VI plus back in 1999 I went through 2 encoders before I found a good one.The bad ones would last 2 or 3 weeks before they started getting flakey. The VP.....Tom Sellevetti I think was his name or something like that...called me & personally apologized even though it was a supplier problem.In this case Oak Grigsby had a bad "lot" of encoders & had to scrammble to make new ones for replacement. this is not the Ten-Tec of old. their service and gone downhill over the past few years. That may be true. old performance is not indictitive of current service I agree. 73, Ken |
