Exactly what is a WorldSpace Digital Satalite radio? and how is it different
to shortwave radio?

They are usually dual analogue shortwave and MPEG players, the latter
from a series of satellite feeds to South America, Africa and South Asia.

There is a monthly newsletter, emailed or paper, from WS.

Quality of sound is good, better than shortwave on some days, if not
the quality of programming. Many 'channels' are now encoded so not
"free-to-air" anymore.

The "World Space Satellite Radio Network" is what the rest of the world
calls XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio outside the USofA.
