Default Geomagnetic storm vs WWV

Near-blackout SW reception here for the nights of Mon Nov 8 and Tues Nov 9.
A little bit of opening in the afternoon of Mon Nov 8 for 10 and 15MHz.
It seems that 5MHz is opening up as I post (1AM Wed Nov 10).

Was pretty bad in Cincy. Could pull in a few signals,
like the BBC and a few others out of relays on this
hemisphere, but anything from Europe was pretty
much DOA.

SW reception is fairly non-existent this morn in Sactown as well. MW reception
was fairly decent, though. Listened to San Diego's Mighty 1090, Sports XPRS,
for Westwood 1's Monday Night Football coverage, as KNBR was airing
Warriors-Mavs contest. Locked in like a local.

I can hear KFEQ - 680, from Saint Joseph, Missouri, 354 miles SSW
from here (as the crow flies), and it sounds like a local. Also, hearing
1670 from Madison, again like a local.

Yeah, sw has been pretty dead here also, even wbcq was barely audible,
though I'd prefer to listen to nothing for the most part. This morning
though, mw reception was great for some reason. The whole band was alive,
which is really unusual here during the day. WAYR 590, or something along
those lines, in Jacksonville, Fla. sounded like a local, among others I fail
to recall to memory.

Same here in the Chicago suburbs this morning; (11/10/04 at 0630 GMT). I can't
even pickup WWV to get the :18 after the hour propagation report! The best I
could scrape up was Radio Havana Cuba on 6.000khz, and there saying this
blackout will last another 36 to 48 hours. I take full responsibility for this
storm. Like your neighbor who washes his car, and then it rains, I put up a Par
Electronics EF-SWL this weekend, and I still don't know how it works. Good
DXing to you, Gary
