Hmmm...sounds like a good idea to me. Probably will be hand generator
or solar powered since batteries will be hard to come by.

Maybe long life lithium batteries sealed inside the radio? I've seen
flashlights built on that principle, and they work and are cheap but
have a limited shelf life. Sounds like the requirements of a radio
you're going to smuggle into a country where there are no batteries.
