Patton was a lot brighter than you give him credit for. He wanted to
keep going through Europe and get the commies while they were still
spread out. Certain vested interests in Washington prevented him from
assuring that NO cold war could ever happen.

It's hard to make billions in defence contracts when there's no
possibility of conflict. ..contrived or otherwise.
