Hello Everybody.
As most of you know, the Sony ICF-SW7600GR is one of the best portable receivers on the market. Frankly, I will never again purchase a radio without a synchronous selectable sideband circuit which makes listening to the short waves far more enjoyable than listening without the circuit and this radio is the least costly receiver with the feature. Now it is available at an almost irresistable price: $109.00 plus $9.00 shipping. (If you live in Illinois or New Jersey, you must pay sales tax.) Where can you get it at this price? BENNETT BROTHERS at 1-800-621-2626 or online at http://www.bennettbrothers.com/sale.asp I have three of these receivers (I also have two ICF-SW7600G models); I wish I needed another! One great xmas gift at this price, too! Hope this is of interest to you all. Best, Joe |

I'm also going to point out that the 7600gr is a very good receiver for medium wave DX'ing. As for the ssb selectable am synch... I use my 7600gr all the time for program listening and that feature is great to have. My primary radio is the R-75, and at times depending on the signal, I'll prefer to use the 7600gr through my computers sound card and speakers over the R-75 for program listening because the ssb selectable am sync allows me to cut out IF coming from above or below. I cant do that with the R-75 unless I go to ssb and use ecss.. Again.. A great price... I paid $ 135.00 for mine... Michael |

The 7600GR is a great radio AND a great value for the price. Yet the SW77, which is a much better radio, was not nearly as good a value because Sony charged an arm and a leg for it. Maybe this is because Sony faced stiffer competition in the 7600GR class. With the SW77, Sony probably figured it clearly had the best advanced portable out there, and so could jack up the price. I think it is the best in its class, but I wish Sony weren't so greedy. Then's there's the absurd prices they attach to replacement parts, particularly the telescopic whips. They don't exactly make the customer feel loved. Steve |

I've been curious about this receiver so I ordered one to check it out. If I decide to keep it, I may experiment with adding a tuning knob system (after the warranty expires). That would make it almost a worthy replacement for the '2010'. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 100,000 Newsgroups ---= East/West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |

Hi Starman,
Just FYI if you don't already know: the 2005 PASSPORT says this radio can be modified for DRM if that transmission method ever "takes off." (I hope it doesn't!) Best, Joe starman wrote in message ... Best, Joe I'm in no hurry for DRM either but it would be nice to have a receiver that can be modified for it, just in case. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 100,000 Newsgroups ---= East/West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |

Are they authorized US distributors, or are they grey market? Bennett Brothers has been around for many decades. I've bought a lot of merchandise from them, including shortwave radios. Never had any problems. The Sony radio would be an authorized sale with a US warranty. I suspect they are discontinuing the 7600GR because of slow sales. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 100,000 Newsgroups ---= East/West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |

Another Xmas gift checked off the list. Thanks for the heads up, Joe! I suspect they are discontinuing the 7600GR because of slow sales. Slow sales? Hardly. Using that logic then they must be discontinuing the Grundig S350, G2000A, FR200, 100PE and GE SuperRadio III! |

The must be sold out because the 7600GR no longer appears on the Bennet
Bros. site, unless I am missing something. Dan |
