Default Eton FR250?

I notice in the Passpost 2005 issue in one of the many Eton
advertising sections, there is one advertisement for a FR250
hand-crank radio with 7 bands of shortwave frequencies. Yet I can find
no info on the net about this new radio. Does anyone happen to have
any info on this radio? Thanks in advance for any info.

HI John, all,
Does anyone happen to have
any info on this radio? Thanks in advance for any info.

No information on this model, but you may be interested to know that a mag
here in the UK has just published a review of the 'Eton FR200' wind up
radio.
The magazine is called, 'Radio Active' and is on sale from, 19/11/04 here in
the UK.
I am not sure if this is any good for you, not knowing your location. But it
may help you.
All the best, Ken, G4KIR.

A comment on the FR200. I own one and
actually use the emergency light in it often. I had to use it in the cellar
once to check for
a loose coax cable to my satellite dish, also I used the FR200 light to
inspect a leak under my dishwasher. One complaint though. The tuning needle
on the FR200 got stuck once. I used tweezers to unstick it. I have a
Panasonic radio from the mid 70's and it's
tuning needle has never gotten stuck after 29 years of use. So, the FR200 is
made a bit
cheaply. The reception is adequate, but not
DX quality. Still, it is a great emergency radio. I suspect the FR250 is
built similiar to the FR200. Just baby the radio and it may last a long
time.

Apparently, it's only available at Restoration Hardware. I'd kinda
like to see one, myself.

Thanks! That's exactly the radio I was looking for. It's suppose to be
like an upgrade to the Grundig FR200, but the shortwave freq's are
broken down into 7 "bands" for better bandspread; plus you can charge
your cell phone battery(?). Anyway, I thought I'd give it a try.
Thanks again.

Cool. Let us know how you like it. I gave an FR-200 to my parents
some time ago, and later wished I'd kept it for myself. They've yet
to need it for "emergencies", but use it almost daily, and take it
with them on vacations, etc. The reception is pretty good for the
price, and it's held up well so far. If the FR-250 is as good a
value, you'll have fun with it.

It is being sold by Restoration Hardware (www.restorationhardware.com) for
$49.99 plus shipping. I haven't checked the local RH store to see if it
is available that way.

It appears to be a re-tooling of the FR-250, with an LED light, siren and
cell phone charger in addition to the radio.

Universal Radio also sells the FR-300, which is the same radio, but with
TV audio and weather band replacing the SW coverage.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I've already been advised of Restoration
Hardware and have purchased an FR250 from them. (See an anecdotal
review I provided on this group on 11-28-04). I notice now that
www.grundigradio.com website now also offers the radio on their
re-vamped site. (Although they offer the Eton 'version/logo').
Regardless, I found it a fun radio to play with and would be good for
camping activities and such -- although slightly a bit large to haul
on your backpack!

I have only seen the FR250 in the Restoration Warehouse
catalogue. No branding. They are suggesting it is
a RW exclusive.
I am on the hunt!
