Honus wrote: "Al Patrick" wrote in message ... b i g s n i p NO such things as nuclear energy such that the skin can melt off a man while he yet stands, along with his eyes and tongue melting out of his head! More hyperbole. You're basically describing a massive amount of heat. Why not? They tried to say that the entire planet was buried under a massive amount of water. I'm surprised they didn't bring up anything about massive amounts of ice, too. (Besides hail stones.) Oh, wait. Why would they? They encounter all of those other phenomena in the Middle East...but ice ages, no. Hmmm. Kind of telling, don't you think? Check out: Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. Ah, I see. I made a mistake...this wasn't a one time instantaneous event, it was a -plague-. Sounds like a disease of some sort to me. As a matter of fact, I've got a translation here that flat out calls it a disease. You seem to think that it's some sort of nuclear cataclysm. When was the last time Jehovah nuked anybody, because that's what the verse says according to your view. "...the Lord will smite...." Oh, wait...I forgot. It's not what the verse says that matters, it's what you want it to say. I notice that it says the "plague" will nail ALL of the people that have fought Israel. A novel twist on the neutron bomb, perhaps? Only kills Jew haters, and leaves the rest standing? If that's the case, then I'd say that you're pretty much screwed, anti-Semite that you are. ![]() Here's one for -you- to check out: Judges 1:19 King James Version "And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron." Seems to me a little nuke ought to have come in handy right about then. Maybe Einstein and Oppenheimer made it through the Pearly Gates, and God's been able to improve his arsenal. Considering the fact that he was originally a tribal war god, Jehovah ain't much in the military department. They must have screwed up, and offered up a sacrificial lamb with a spot on its ass or something. You know how particular Yahweh is about that sort of thing. And my wife thinks -I'm- a picky eater. By the way: I notice that you snipped out all of those other points I made, you know, about earthquakes and such, and stuck with the most ambiguous one. But even that one flies against what you claim it means. Why are you going out of your way to help me out here? And by the way; diseases aren't caused by little demons in your body. Just thought you might like to know that. |
