Anyone who would pay $900.00+ for an AM radio
desperately needs to have their head examined ASAP.

Another fine example of the boundless insanity

I'm sure rarity and condition factored heavily into the bidding.

A few days ago a Hallicrafters SX-88 closed for $8,000.

They are pretty darn rare... I seem to recall one a few years ago that might have fetched $10,000 or more?

That might have been the one WB6ACU purchased.

So you're saying I shoulda bought the one at the tag sale for $5 last week eh? ;)

I think I saw an SX-88 go in the $12-13k range a couple years back.

Personally, I'd rather have my 550 and a wad of cash.

You bet. I guess it's like stamp collecting, no telling what one might pay if the 'fever' hits.

If it sounds good, it must be expensive.
