Free trade has benfits to both sides; hell I used to give Canada a
goodly amount of money for things I couldn't get in the US such as
sweetner with cyclamates for my diabetic relatives, fireworks and
Cuban cigars as well as monies lost playing the ponies. Overall, the
US and Canada have been decent trading partners and decent neighbors.
Even good neighbors have disagreements from time to time so wait a
while and things will turn and you will feel Canada is the main
beneficiary.

Uh, they were dumb enough to buy a Union Carbide plant; Dow ain't no
saint but they bought the mess they didn't make it. Yes, they are
abandoning it though on that count you are correct. It did happen 20
years ago though not 25.
