Then we'll get someone whining about that. And then there will be someone asking where in the world is 'GA', and we'll have to make sure the country goes in the subject line as well. On, and on it goes. dxAce Michigan USA |

"Kitchen Time" ? I've never heard that one... The clock in a modern house is/was sometimes found on the kitchen wall. We used to connect a special outlet for it right above or near the fridge. It was a recessed outlet, so the cord on the clock could be tucked up behind it. The electrical code even said that ONLY a clock outlet could be wired in with the fridge circuit. It made sense, as the clock uses very little power AND it gave a visual indication of power to the fridge. Kitchen clocks with cords seem to be a rare commodity now, the batteries having taken over along with the 'pulsed' things driving the clockworks instead of real motors. mike |

Must be a regional thing. Although I've yet to see a kitchen without *some* kind of clock, it seems like our "main" clock was always the one on the mantle, or the grandfather clock (pardon the digression)... Of course. But when 'Life Lite'© replaced gracious living, the mantle as part of daily family life was forgotten. I still remember my dad winding the thing on Sunday nights. It was a seven day clock with very nice chimes and a beautiful brass clockwork. The key was kept away from us urchins, because he KNEW the temptation to over wind it would be too great. I think I overcame my frustration by dismantling the lawnmower engine instead. mike |
