I got a new 7600GR : )

I had a new 7600GR a few weeks ago. It worked fine but I really didn't
need another radio so I returned it. I hope someone got it for
Christmas.

I've had several 7600G/GR's, and this is the first one that worked
perfectly. All of the others had one sideband that sounded muffled when
using the sync det. That was my biggest complaint with the 7600 series. This
one is a real pleasure to use! I've been comparing it to my Degen 1103 using
just the whip antennas and they are very close except on FM. The Degen wins
by far. I nearly always use headphones and the audio on the Degen is RICH
and full compared to the 7600GR. But when there's noise or interference the
Sony wins hands down on SW and SSB. Both are very sensitive using just the
whip antennas compared to my DX-398. For $60 the Degen is quite a bargain,
but heck I got the new 7600GR for only $130. I read that you can get a
7600GR for $110 from Bennett Bros. I got mine from J & R in 3 days via UPS
ground which is amazing during the holidays IMO.

Who got new radios???

I hope everyone's cup is running over!!!

Merry Christmas

I got the additional antenna accessories that I'd
ordered from Universal, if that counts. I am grateful,
however, that I didn't get it a day or two sooner, otherwise
the antenna might have come down when the snow
changed to ice on Wednesday night.

like that.

There's a gear in the assembly that goes bad; specifically, three nylon-
like dowels in the gear assembly crumble into dust. The gear is available
for about $10. Sometimes the inner metal part is different in the original
than in the replacement; you just pull the new one apart and use the
metal part of the old assembly and all the other parts of the new one.
