Would it make a good one?
I've been swapping CRTs in computer monitors, and I have a degaussing coil from a typical 12" monitor available. Would it make a good loop antenna for SW or MW reception, or is it inappropriate for that task? I don't think it's a gay degaussing coil, so the question may be off-topic at RRS. If so, I apologize in advance. |

KJI,
.. Using a Degaussing Coil as a Shortwave or AM/MW Antenna - NO ! .. But, it might make a good Very Low Frequency (VLF) or Low Frequency (LF) "Natual Earth Sounds" Antenna. .. Dig a hole about three to six feet deep; a Post Hole Digger would help. .. Solder a Coax Cable across the two wires coming out of the Degaussing Coil. Tape and Seal your Solder 'joints' .. Put the Degaussing Coil into a Plastic Bag and tie and seal the Bag; then put this bag into another Plastic Bag and tie and seal that Bag. .. Next bury the double bagged Degaussing Coil about three to six feet under the ground. .. Tune your Radio down as low as it will go and . . . listen, Listen. LISTEN ! [ VLF & LF = 10 Hz to 100 kHz ] .. So called "Natural Radio" - Natures Radio Signals - Hear the Earth Talk ! - Can You Hear It ? ? ? .. Here are three eGroups on YAHOO ! to check-out: ..
