It is possible to determine the optimum take-off-angle (TOA) using an
analysis of backscatter. Possible, not easy. It is improbable that WWRB has the expensive equipment and personnel to perform the feat and even more unlikely that their limited antenna system could benefit from knowing an optimum TOA. Note their occasional strong second harmonic on 10100 kHz and how few antennas are in their "kit." Mac -- J. Mc Laughlin; Michigan U.S.A. Home: Brain fade time, but I vaguely remember a description in one of the hobby electronics mags (PE, RE, or Monitoring Times) about a system that the stations can use to determine which antenna angle gives the best results to their target area by picking up backscatter and determining where their signal is going.
