American TV showed satellite views of before and after. In one place, a
small island was washed away. In many others, the pristine white sand
beaches that drew tourists from around the world are gone, meaning that
tourism will likely never recover. People magazine (US) is claiming that
the earthquake altered the earth's rotation-does anybody know anything
about this since the possibility of that happening was discussed here?

Latest I've heard is that the quake wobbled the Earth slightly
and may have increased the rotation speed by as much as three
microseconds...

Earth has always had a slight wobble.Yep,it's a wobbly wobbly World we
live on.And Earth is sort of pear shaped too.
