It was originally a designated television channel, but was done away with and given to other services before television ever actually started broadcasting (48-50 MHz is VHF low band public service frequencies (police/fire/ambulance) and cordless phones, baby monitors and other Part 15 devices. 50-54 MHz is the Amateur 6 meter band. Channel-1 was part of the original Armstrong FM band. |
