My network provider is Road Runner at San Antonio, not one of their listed undesirable providers. Any ideas as to why I cannot get past their first screen? I have my own firewall setup with a Linksys router which provides me with an IP address. Could this be part of the problem? If yes, how do I get around it? Al KA5JGV San Antonio, TX This may not help, but let me try...I don't know much about IP addresses, but I'm using a wireless Linksys here also and had no trouble with the ILG new password nor with downloading their latest file. As far as I know, the IP addresses NEED to match on both your modem and the router. Some other thoughts: You may simply need to REFRESH your webrowser screen first. You may be looking at an outdated screen that won't refresh automatically. If you're using Internet Explorer simply click on VIEW at the top of the browser bar, then go down to REFRESH and click on it -- when you're at the FORBIDDEN site. (Or click on that little icon envelope with the two circulating arrows). If that doesn't work, the next step would be to select TOOLS and then down to INTERNET OPTIONS and click the GENERAL tab and click on DELETE FILES on your TEMPORARY INTERNET files. This will do no harm (as long as you're deleting the TEMPORARY INTERNET files -- not something else. A lot of times when you 'think' you're looking at something ONLINE, you may be simply looking at something you cached from sometime ago, and sometimes the webrowser will be repeatedly bringing up this old file instead of the new one. One other thing...if you're using a firewall or Pop Up Blocker, sometimes the Pop Up Blockers will block legitimate sites. There should be a way for your system to allow you to download that one particular site you need to see or download. For instance, mine always alerts me by placing a tab across my tab telling me its blocked an ad, and if I want to see it or bypass it, I simply need to click either here or there. That will usually allow me to download he info I need to see. I think those are the 2 or 3 things you NEED to do first. I hope that helps. Please don't DELETE anything you're not comfortable with. But refreshing and deleting old internet files is nothing to worry about. Your browser only holds so much temp files in cache and eventually deletes them on its own depending on what limit you set in the TOOLS file. Let us know how it goes. |
