Hi Ace,

Michael heard the ID but wasn't sure what he heard. Portuguese is a
little tough if you're not familiar with its "sound."

Do you remember "La Voz do Occident?" (I'm sure my spelling is off.)
Best,

Sure do... And thanx for setting Ace straight :-)

If he thought that he set me straight, he was mistaken. You did not
indicate
that you heard an ID, and for him to state that you did is just plain
crazy, how
would he know, based upon your post?

Did you not see this line in quotes below ??? Or perhaps you responded
before you could read my second post....

"Thanx for the confirmation. I heard them ID, but I wasn't 100 % sure of
what I heard."

Your second post never arrived here...

But if you did indeed hear them ID, then why did you ask in the first place?

That's a simple question only you will be able to answer.

Try reading the line from the second post again that I have in quotes
above... I do not speak the language and was unsure of what I heard. Why
bother having a sw news group if legitimate on topic questions and answers
are going to be mocked and invalidated by others ???

I'm not mocking or invalidating anything. Perhaps YOU need to go back and read
MY original post.

Bottom line, had you indeed ID'd it, you would not have had to ask the original
question.

Pretty simple, in my view.

Yes.... Exactly... If I was sure of what I heard I'd have wrapped up my
ID. I was not 100 % sure as you now know, and I decided to post the
question in hopes that I would get further confirmation of what I thought I
was hearing from other ng posters.... Your antagonistic post stated that I
should "actually try listening". Your response would suggest to me that you
think I did not or would not try listening to ID it myself. I did indeed
try listening and I did indeed hear them ID, but I was unsure of what they
said. I also checked the Passport blue pages too, which gave me further
indication that it was Radio Nacional Da Amazonia. What is wrong with
posting my question to help confirm the log and why do you assume I did not
try listening ???

You should feel blessed. If he really gets upset, he does a 'LMFAO' and
calls you a 'tard. His shadow 'beerbrain' usually follows right in step with
an echo of the insults.

The 'Ace has been like that since the incident with the toilet at the Army
base. His Platoon collectively slammed the seat on his head while he was
trying to get a drink. He's never recovered and now gets a lifelong
disability at the taxpayers' expense.

Being nice to him seems to make no difference

Michael - dxAce does sometimes come across as terse and mocking,
whether intended or not. His online persona *appears* to be slightly
impatient. After awhile, you can learn to get used to it, accept it,
and extract from it whatever good information there is - and there is
often quite a bit. Once you get beyond the affectation, it all settles
into place.

Rest assured that, for most of us, your post made sense.

Brasilia has been a powerhouse on 11780 now for awhile. After some
years' absence, when I first restarted the radio hobby back in 2001, I
was surprised by the potency of its signal compared to the
mini-Brazilians I had heard in the past. Too bad RAE Bueno Aires on
11710 cannot do as well - it's signal, formerly a good one, is tough
these days.

Not only that, but I have noticed that especially when the solar storm
levels become high and polar propagation is subdued, the tropical and
trans-equatorial routes seem to be enhanced. Then, Brazil comes
through even better, and the itty bitty stations from CA and SA (and
Africa too) become more listenable. YMMV depending on latitude and
location.
