All TV News sucks. Not just CBS.

Spoken by someone who gets all his "news" from Buzzflash.

He makes a bunch of points worth exploring, however.

I won't say that all of his points are right, or that this newsgroup is
the best place for it - but he asked for intelligent discussion of
those points, and frankly, that discussion has not been conducted
anywhere else either, at least publicly.

He is absolutely right about one thing - thoughtful people who roundly
examine complex issues are at a premium these days.

Yes, but the listing of what classes the person
(not sure he or she) has taken, and pulling a
Victor Hugo on us by presenting us with two
extremes, rather than the natural grey area that
most places provide make me think that the person
was still trolling.

Let's talk reality here... No one's going to change
their opinions on these issues, so don't bother
trying to bring them up in a newsgroup that isn't
where this stuff should reside. I've yet to see
anyone say, "Wow!! You know what, I was
thinking that XXX was right, but you know
what?? I think that YYY is right now!!" That
doesn't mean that it doesn't happen, but the
arguments are such that everything is painted
in black and white. It's hard to find anything
resembling middle ground if everyone claims
they are right and all who disagree are wrong.

That is both the great promise as well as the
great problem of the internet: if you're in an
argument, you can find anything you want
to back up your side of it.
