Hello Friends
Having had the S350 for a day or two I have had the chance to do some DX'ing with it. Nice catches I never heard before : WOC 1420 Kc/s Davenport IA CFRW 1290 Kc/s Winnipeg MB WLIK 1420 Kc/s Paducah KY (1KW) nothing real exotic. but not afraid to take on the graveyard freqs now. Maybe my memory is playing tricks but sure seems harder to pull 'em out now than on the pre-1975 dial. Not to raise flames but I'm glad I didn't spend big money for that CCrane receiver. I am very happy with this one. Only fly in the ointment..I get an image at 690 KC for a local on 1600 KC and an image on 950 Kc/s for WLS 890 Kc/s (whose 50KW transmitter site is in a town very close to here). At night "real stations" come in on these freqs and I don't get the images..so no big deal. All in all....nice little RX. Glad I got one. 73 Greg |

WHO does come in ok all day in the Chicago area...........good signal. Since
you are also in the Chicago area, try for WLW, 700kHz; 1520, for some station in southeast Missouri..........I haven't IDed it yet; 524kHz, the Iowa City aero beacon; WKAR, 870kHz, East Lansing Michigan; and finally, WOWO, 1190, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. These are pretty easy to receive, except maybe the 524kHz station. Pete "Sanjaya" wrote in message ink.net... wrote in message ps.com... Only issue I had on MW with an S-350 when I had one was drift, mostly from the dial-string tuning mechanism. I got a scrap bcl-2000 sitting around, got to try to modify it to use a geared mechanism on of these days. |
