Exactly! But the kindergarten plonk I never did get because it's
about the same as that little kindergaten kid stomping out of class and
going home. Who cares? There are two dozen other kids we can still
play with!!

Right, Denley??? (I KNOW you're still watchin' me!!! Aren'tcha...you
big brute!)

Pop-quiz time! Ready? Let's begin!

1. Can you describe why you read this off-topic post?

2. Can you describe why you participated in, and contributed to this
off-topic thread?

3. Should a committee be nominated to come up with a guide-line
listing of acceptable topics?

4(a). If you were to host an "R.R.S." gathering in your town, would
you restrict conversation only to logs, impedance, who has the biggest
"antenna", etc.?

4(b). Wheat-Thins or Triskets?

5. Would it be acceptable for a group of people who share a common
hobby to gather and discuss whatever interests them, whether the
topic of conversation centers on their shared hobby, or if the
conversation wanders in and out of that shared hobby?

6. Do you regard R.R.S. *only* as a reference source that should
never be used as a venue for social interaction among those who have
a common hobby?

Don't blow a gasket - I'm just sayin'...

I realize that you would prefer the balance of on-topicff-topic
posts to be heavily weighted to on-topic. There's nothing wrong with
that. However, if you peruse usenet much, then you should already
know the nature of public forums. As the concept has matured over
time, private forums have become about the only place you can
realistically expect to find the balance you seek. You probably
already know that as well. So I would say that your expectations for
a public, un-moderated usenet forum (though admirably optimistic) are
fairly unrealistic.

Do we want this group to be nothing more than 150+ posts per day
consisting only of "Here's My Logs!" type posts? Part and parcel of
the hobby is the variety of content you can hear. If some in this
group had their way, I would only be able to post a freq, time and
sinpo, but would be banished to the hinterlands for discussing
anything to do with the actual content of what I heard. If it ever
turns into that, then I'd rather go dig stumps.

-=jd=

Like it or not, many talented members of this hobby have left this NG for
good and for one reason: The namecalling, political BS that now passes for
conversation on this NG. If that's your favorite sport, there must be
hundreds of newsgroups where people rant all day long about everything. Why
hijack this group for that purpose?

Look I'm not important, and I can go elsewhere.......but there used to be
lots of international goodwill and dialogue here and tremedous help for
newbies. Now it's anti-canada, anti-this, anti-everything. The
conversation now is about as immature as I have ever seen here. KIllfiling
cross-posters and those who never post shortwave is a great way to at least
make the conversations seem more civil. (Unfortunately the Lauterbachs of
this world keep changing their IP and showing up again 5 minutes later).

Dear Billy,

You are turning out to be a real moron. The kill file is just a time
saver. 132 articles were posted to the news group just today and most
were from the same continually off topic posters. Why take the time to
go through them just to see the posts you want to read? With the kill
file the computer can be programed to display only the posts you are
likely to want to read.

Now you for instance have just show up making a bad impression in
several posts being mostly off topic. Shape up or end up in most
people's kill file.

Got several strikes against you already:
1. Reintroduced by one of the news groups long time Trolls.
2. Then spams the news group.
3. Then shamelessly further self promotes his business.
4. Several posts with content similar to what is quoted above.

It's your choice as to wether you are worth the time to read and my
choice wether or not I'm going to read what you post. I can continue
read the news group without reading you if I want.

I don't hold out mush hope for you though based on the Troll-ish
stupidity by you quoted in this post.

Time for you to get a clue, if its possible.

I'm watchin' you Billy boy.

I own a little Radio Shack 150 channel hand held scanner radio I bought
for $75.00 at the Eazy Pawn shop in Pearl across the Pearl River from
Jackson. The radio works just like brand new.Sometimes I turn it on and
listen for a while and I can hear a few Hams talking to each other. There
is a Krystal restaurant about a block from me on Highway 80 just outside
of Metro Center mall www.metromalljackson.com and I used to listen
to the folks at the drive up window. It got to where I can't pick them up
on my radio anymore and I wonder why? Did they start useing some sort of
spread sprectum two way radios in there or what? [May I take your
order,sir?] {two Krystals,two fries,and two cokes} [Thank you sir,please
pull around to the window, your order is ready} I enjoyed listening to
those folks over there.A few years ago,I used to listen to a few folks
phone calls on my road and the next road across from me untill they got
them digital spread sprectum (or whatever it's called) phones and them
cell phones.I used to hear some real good juicy conversation on their
phones with my little scanner radio.

Up yours, Telly-tubby. I'm watchin' you too. First off, I didn't
start the troll. Second, I'm not keeping the subject alive....it's
your redneck buddy in Mississippi. And thirdly, I am not spamming. I
have introduced subjects AWAY from the TT. (If you have noticed, I
have quit using my usual signature line mentioning my website....WHICH
IS PERMISSABLE USENET ETIQUETTE ANYWAY......in favor of humorous TT
liners.)

You can take your clue, and cut and paste it where from your speaketh:
out of your colon hole......

Now....go out and enjoy the day.....
