It's not like anyone is giving out any sensitive material, and the transmissions are easily heard by anyone with the proper equipment. Hobbyists, spooks, whackos and 'tards. I like listening to this kind of stuff because it reminds me of sitting up in CIC on the ship(s) I was on standing watch on the air search radar and listening to all the traffic on the radios. dxAce Michigan USA |

Might be the the same bunch that's been operating what sounds like a surface warfare net on 4741.5 for the past day or two at local night (East Coast US), as reported on the WUN reflector. From the sound of things, you may have found the air defense net. There's probably yet another voice net somewhere coordinating the LINK-11 (TADIL-A) operation as well. 73 de John, KC2HMZ, KNY2VS zIRC #monitor Group |

I heard one guy mention "ASW ex" Which is probably an Anti Sub Warfare
practice operation. This was on 6230. I thought the #Monitor group closed up shop and moved to #Wun? I stopped going after a very childish incident caused a "Split" to two rooms... very childish.. I have very little time for that kind of nonsense. 73 Tom John Kasupski wrote: On 6 Mar 2005 08:07:29 -0800, "RedOctober" wrote: Mega activity as of 1604 on 6230 USB, some US Navy strike group training excercise going on. BTW thx for the 4741.5 frequency, I guess this is where the guys on
6230 hang out during the night? And how regular are these USB nets? I only run into them once a year or so during operations. Regardless, it is VERY interesting listening. |

I took a listen down there this morning for a short time around 1330 but didn't hear anything, could have just been propagation, so I'll try again this evening. And how regular are these USB nets? I only run into them once a year or so during operations. Seems to happen a few times a year, if and when someone locates them. I still can't find that site I used to have that would announce the exercises, and tell what they were about. Maybe they dropped it? dxAce Michigan USA |
