Availability Note:
Icom has discontinued the R75. No replacement is currently planned.

Universal
Radio obtained a quantity of this model before it was
discontinued. We are pleased to be able continue to offer this excellent
radio.

Sheese, we'll have to start stockpiling shortwaves along with ammo now.

It might be,them slant eyed chinks are undercutting them with those
lower price chink radios.

dxAce: There is no indication at present on the Universal site of The
FRG-100 being discontinued.

mike0219116: For a short time last year, Universal did have it listed
as discontinued, only to have it show back up as available a few weeks
later.

PWBR has been saying that the FRG-100 was going to be discontinued for
several years, but this years edition says it's "for real" this time.

One can really never have enough of either one!

As to ammo, I'd much rather be in a position of having to much, rather than
saying "Oh s**t, I'm out of ammo".

Icom won't announce a new SW receiver . . .

Well, if it's discontinued, don't you think that the last production
run is
already finished?

Yeah, if there was going to be another production run, then Universal
wouldn't have felt the need to stockpile them now. I'm afraid the R75
is history.

Steve

Universal seems to know ahead of time when something like this is going to
happen. They stockpiled the Drake SW2, SAT 800, and now the R75. I remember
when they closed out the SW2 for $400. That was a nice radio for the money.

I just called Universal radio and they said they just ordered 250 and
they know NOTHING about it being discontinued.

Gee, I wonder how it got on their R75 ad.

Michael March 15th 05 11:22 PM

WTF is going on ??? First the R8b and now the R-75. Two of the most popular
and written about table tops are going up the spout. The question used to
be.... "Should I get a new R-75 or a used R8b ???" Soon, the question will
be... "What used table top should I get ???" Is the NRD-545 next ???

I hope ICOM makes a replacement for the R-75.

Michael
