Tip toe through the tulips? Tiny Tim has got to be one of the worst singers

Yes! I just started laughing when I heard it.

Tiny Tim has got to be one of the worst singers EVER!

I think Rod Stewart's singing voice is the worst.

Absolutely! And, as the "Prophet", he should have someone else do the
singing for him... Preferably, someone who *can*...

It absolutely amazes me that people like Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan, Leonard
Cohen, Tiny Tim and Bryan Adams are considered singers. I sound like sh--
in the shower myself though I'm told.

I'm also amazed at people with speech impediments who are broadcasters.

I like Rod Stewart's music.Leonard Cohen,who is he? I never have cared
much for Tiny Tim's music.

They did, they did. I think it was for some Dylan song's anniversary
(or perhaps just the PR bumph for his book), they had some Dylan specials
on the Beeb, and one remark was that he was the most covered songwriter
during a good chunk of the Sixties. The Byrds wouldn't have gone anywhere
without him.

They still are, too. On an episode of _Alternative Radio_ I heard
last week (on the bottom of the FM band, KEXP- Seattle), they (David
Barsamyan(sp) and Howard Zinn) discussed how somebody finked to Homeland
Security on a band that was singing Dylan's _Masters of War_. The snitch
was claiming that the band was threatening the life of the President, so
everybody got interviewed by the Secret Service.

The difference is that Dylan can craft good songs. Ability to sing is
over-rated, anyway. Pro Tools can make any shower-warbler sound good
these days. It took guts and skill and practise to develop a voice with
lesser abilities in the old days.

Many famous vocalists learned to sing within their abilities to come up
with a personal sound they later became famous and appreciated for.
Remember that early arm-chair critics *hated* Lena Horne and Billie
Holiday. Holiday is famous for being constantly behind the beat and
slightly flat, with an uncontrolled quaver. This is now her signature
sound that other vocalists attempt to copy. I suppose the same can be
said for many other early blues, R&B and country swing musicians, as well.

Even old crooners like Frank Sinatra were belittled throughout their
career for being too weak, or having too short a range. There is a
recording of Bing Crosby chiding Frank for not being able to reach a
note during a duet, "is this what you were looking for, son?"

No argument there - but the world would have been better off if he had
constrained himself to only *writing* instead of singing.

Think of your favorite song. Think of it being sung, at a strained pitch,
by either Bob Dylan or Roseann Barr.

He sang some songs very well. I did see a tv thing he was on once were he
sounded like **** and I'm sure he was stoned out of his mind. Maybe that's
what you saw?

Now watch your parking meters!!!
