- What happens when you plug it in ..

Is it a working rig or
does it need Life Support & a feeding tube

SOmeone's not going to give one of those to the Salvation Army if
they know what it is. So someone gave away their husband's radio,
before or after he died, or someone found it in an attic after moving
in (not likely) or it was stolen and found to not work.

Chances are good that if it was working, it's not now. I suspect
someone did think it was a CB set, and likely mangled it in
trying to get it to work.

I doubt your average meth addicted burglar is going to make off with a
ham rig if he can get his hands on a DVD player instead. And if a
burglar WAS dumb enough to take this over a DVD player, I doubt they
could get it to work.

Cuhulin indicates that it runs off a battery. If so, either somebody
gave it away who was too challenged by the lack of an AC plug to figure
it out, or somebody hooked it up in a way that fried it. If it DOES
work, I'd be pleasantly surprised. And no, Cuhulin, it is NOT a CB.

I took a second look at the pic. If you hooked that thing up without a
proper antenna and/or dummy load, you'd fry it. That's probably what
happened, and now for $2 Cuhulin has somebody else's problem. Live and
learn. I once paid $40 at a thrift store for a VHS tape camcorder that
ate tapes, and was too old to fix. And $40 is a lot of money when you're
on disability. I never did that again.

Dummy Load? I know what that means, but what sort of a dummy load do I
need to use or buy before I hook up my $2.00 Transceiver?

The hot wire and the ground wire on my $2.00 Transceiver each have a
bayonet (for lack of what I know, that's what I call them) plug on the
wires which were oviously installed at the factory.

I saw the little decal sticker above the jack for an external speaker on
my Transceiver.I saw the specs on my $2.00 Transceiver in the rigpix
site that Dan posted.(thanks Dan) I guarantee you it does operate from a
car battery.Or,it will operate from a proper adapter too, assuming there
isn't anything wrong with my $2.00 Transceiver.Next, you will be calling
me a liar.YOU come here and see for yourself!
