| TANSTAAFL? I had to look that one up! "There ain't no such thing as a
| free lunch."

| Anyway, if you can't find an AM or shortwave radio that works without a
| subscription to XM, there's something very, very wrong. I have lots of
| radios, and while they do require batteries or AC power, not one--and I
| mean not a single one--requires a subscription to XM.

Here's the thing, though....I have a lot of radios, too, and it's very rare that
ANY of them are worth turning on, considering when I listen, a problem which is
even more pronounced when I travel. So, to have the choices I want, and in a
way no different than the magazines, newspapers, satellite TV and other services
I pay for, satellite radio is the means I use to (legally!) acquire the
programming I will listen to. And, as TANSTAAFL suggests, your "free" radio
isn't really "free", either.

"radios" that require a monthly subscription just to listen to them are
intended for canaDUHians.Evidently it is True because y'all canaDUHians
sure do SUCK UP to them.

This event actually has a lot of significance.

They are starting to give the radios away. I was expecting that to happen.

I think you will see a variety of deals now that include free satellite radios.
Soon nobody will be paying for them.

And there will be all sorts of discount subscription deals too.

It is a gradual move to mass distribution.

You know, if you bought them at Goodwill they probably had a head start in

I'm surprised you doubt him. The man's gone to great effort in proving his
cerebral agility but you *still* question his particular gift..or lack of it.
Given different circumstances, surely he'd be offended instead of merely
displaying that dxAceish bewilderment.

Sometimes I like to pick up some cheap meat at the wal fart store,so I
naturally flirted with the wimmins over there too.

I don't think they'd be flattered to hear you referring to them as "cheap
meat". eg

The fact that he has to pay for it at all, regardless of the price, is quite
disturbing. He must have attended the 'dxAce School of Dating'
