Can anyone explain to me why the only certifiable, full-blown, psychotic
loonies in this newsgroup are American?

Tandy stores are in England,I know that.A married woman in England has
told me so a few years ago and a guy at the Cork,Ireland,Examiner
newspaper (Thomas Crosbie Media) once told me Tandy stores are in
Ireland.

Regan let them loose when they shut down a bunch of asylums to save
federal money. Freedom of speech lets them have access to the web to
say whatever they want, unlike some other countries.

And now we have to deal with them on Usenet!

A total dweeb filter for webtv helps on a lot of newsgroups.

The worst loonies are the ones who change their identity every couple
days because they found another junk computer an claim their new id is
the only way they know that they really posted from their latest
dumpster box.

Most of the folks who use webtv are very nice, and a lot of them use
computers too. There are many webtv alt.discuss news groups and folks who
only use computers can not access them with computers.I can access all
of the webtv alt.discuss news groups with my webtv box and I can access
the usenet news groups too with my webtv box. With my computers,I can not
access the webtv alt.discuss news groups. There are things computers
can't do that webtv can do and there are things webtv can't do that
computers can do.Seeeeee, how smart I am! Goody,Goody,Goody! I can get on
the msntv one plan if I want to and pay $15.95 per month and use my
computers on the msntv one plan and my webtv service would be free,I can
also do that with certain broad band providers too. But,I prefer to pay
more money for my broad band service (44.95 per month, www.twcjam.com
) and keep my computers off of the msntv one plan. That is my damn
business and nobody elses,I have certain reasons.

Can anyone explain to me why the only certifiable, full-blown, psychotic
loonies in this newsgroup are American?

Here we go again! Another America sucks thread. Please Brian, tell us why.

I enjoy shortwave listening as a casual hobby, it's not life-and-death
for me. And I come to this newsgroup occasionally to pick up on the
rare bits of valuable info concerning shortwave programming and related
stuff -- you know, the "whale song", HAARP, military comms, etc. Again,
not life-and-death for me, it's just for fun.

But even a casual visitor to this newsgroup will note that its topic --
shortwave radio, remember -- attracts a lot of mentally-ill people. Any
casual visitor to this group knows the names, there's no need to repeat
them now, I'm not trying to embarrass anyone. And, any casual listener
to shortwave programming knows that it, too, attracts a lot of
mentally-ill people, both broadcasters and, I assume, their listeners.
The part that bothers me is, with the exception of the very-polished
propaganda broadcasters from failing communist regimes, all of the loony
programming is from US sources. And all of the truly demented posters
here are American. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, but it's bad enough
that it bothers me a little. This can't go unnoticed by the rest of the
world, and if their impressions of America are based even a little bit
on things that they hear from Pastor Peters, Brother Stair, David Smith,
etc., etc., or the nuts in this group, then we've got a problem.

It's ideals, morals, religion etc...Brian, not necessarily metal illness,
although it may be with a few and we don't hold a monopoly on any mental
diagnosis. The old world right now is struggling between it's old moral and
religious beliefs and the ever expanding modern western world ideals. And
that's why we are in a holy war in the middle east. Some may debate that and
put other labels or motives on it but the simple explanation is the worlds
going through a major change and some people like to create weird scenarios
and conspiracies in an effort to rationalize or explain what's going on.
There's people all around us every day that we would consider crazy but
never hear them because they would never voice openly, these forums give
people anonymity to say things they never would in public and allot of what
people say is bull****, kinda like getting ****ed off at your buddy or mate
by saying "I'd like to kick your ass" when your just venting anger and would
never act on it. The point is people do and say all kinds of weird **** when
there safe behind their computers and mixed with today's complexities it's
bound to get interesting.

P.S. Europe has it's share of crazy posters to Usenet too. Just brows
through the thousands of groups to see.

B.H.

I understand your point, and agree. My point is, I know we don't hold a
monopoly on mental illnesses, but judging just from this newsgroup, I'd
guess our mentally-ill are the only ones in the world with access to
Usenet. And, I'm sure you understand, my post was a rhetorical question
asked in response specifically to the comment about French women and
antennas. If nothing else, this newsgroup is entertaining.
