Steve Installation of DAO ------------------- 1) The package consists of 3 files: - DaoDisk1.exe - DaoDisk2.exe - DaoDisk3.exe 2) Copy these 3 files into an empty directory and run each exe. This will produce 3 directories: - directory "Disk1" - directory "Disk2" - directory "Disk3" 3) Enter the directory "Disk1" and run "setup.exe". 4) When you are asked which options you want to install, you may either - leave all settings as they are or in order to save same disk space you may - proceed as follows: - In the first dialog: - Check "Jet3.5" - Uncheck "ODBCDirect" - In the second dialog: - Check "Excel" - Check "Paradox" - Check "XBase" - Check "Text and HTML" - Uncheck "Lotus" - Uncheck "Exchange" 5) Finish the installation. 6) You may now delete the original directory and all directories and files contained in this directory. |

Did I read somewhere that the ID was linked to your IP? In which case, if it was dynamically changed, your ID/PW would not be accepted. HankG |

From what I've been reading all over it would seem that ILG has one of the quirkiest systems around. I'm not surprised. ILG used to be pretty good many years ago when a hard copy was published. dxAce Michigan USA |

But last year the ILG guy sent me an email telling me the IP number I was using at the time I registered. It still worked for me yesterday. At the time of registration I wondered just what you are thinking... what about people with dynamic IPs... but a bit later I got the email... thankfully... because I hadn't bothered to verify what IP address I had used when I signed up. |

HankG I think it was linked to your IP at the time you submitted for a password. Mine worked. You might need to reapply. |

Fortunately, Philip Atchley, beaver 8899 and James Niven of the SWLOG Yahoo group determined that the solution was to open the dbf file, remove the last record (which caused the problem and is a copyright notice), save and re-zip the file and then import the file into SWLOG. Thanks to all who managed to solve the problem very quickly! Good DX John Barnard I gave up using the ILGS database a year or so ago. I would prefer he charge rather than the STUPID way he chooses now. I think in the past 5 years I have had to have 3 passwords ????? I want ot know WHY!!! Whew I feel much better. They stress not to apply more than once. Hope it doesn't delay/prevent me from getting a download. HankG |
