Default What is "news" in this "news group" anyway?

I wish people would post more often on the current reception they are
getting. This would be important "news" in this "news group."

And what is with the space weather site:
http://www.sec.noaa.gov/

It is 5/8/2005 at 20:35 UTC and the page was last updated
Space Weather Now Updated: 2005 May 07 1020 UTC (May 07 0420 MDT)?

I checked a few forecast locations on their main website, and they are all
day-old material also.

It's a conspires against you Telemon.

You have picked on my cousin and hurt his feeling until he now has a
doll of you and he's sticking pins into it.

If you want DX update and want to be part of some great DXing groups let
me know and I'll send you some url's. BUT, you'll have to be nice and not
say bad things to anyone there. Lots of great people over there like me and
other "Secret" members and if your nice we "MAY" let you in on a trial
basses.

As Always,
Your Friend,

Burr

This is very strange. Here is a site that pulls information from NOAA
site that is 10 hours behind and yet it has up to date information that
says that we are in Geomagnetic storm conditions. At least that explains
why conditions are poor.

Yep, that's the site to go to for a quick glance at conditions.

Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings but I call them as I see them. If I
have a problem with what someone has posted I tell them. If there are
some "secret" groups out there they should stay that way I'll stick with
the public news groups.

Maybe Rick Santorum got to it first. He has proposed that information
from the National Weather Service not be made available, in general, to
the public. Instead, you would need to use a subscription service for day
to day weather information. Of course, they would make NWS information
available if a storm approaches.

I use Notify, offered on the Weather Channel, and I've always been
surprised that Notify would ring my home and cellular phones, and send a
message to my pager, 5 or more minutes before the NWS released the
information for activation of compliant weather radios. Notify uses the
NWS information, you would think that the NWS could get the message out
before Notify.

Imagine, a tax payer funded service whose data must be withheld from the
tax payers.

Apparently Accu-Weather, in Pennsylvania, is a contributor to his and
Specter's campaigns.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05116/494329.stm

"WASHINGTON -- Sen. Rick Santorum has introduced legislation that would
limit the information that the National Weather Service can provide to
the public, in what the Pennsylvania Republican's aides describe as an
effort to make sure that private weather companies -- particularly those
in his home state -- can compete in the marketplace and retain jobs.

Santorum's legislation directs the U.S. secretary of commerce to limit
the National Weather Service's offerings to just those services that
private-sector weather companies cannot or are unwilling to offer --
unless the information is related to "severe weather forecasts and
warnings designed for the protection of life and property" or information
that the government must provide under international aviation accords."

I usually receive a bad reception, but that's because I forget to put
underarm deodorant on.

This would be important "news" in this "news group."
