DSP audio filters: Timewave 599zx, MFJ 784B -- Useful for SWBC listening?

Hello folks, I am curious to get some opinions on DSP audio filters and their usefulness with regard to noise reduction for shortwave broadcast listening in the AM mode. I guess the two units that seem to attract the most attention are the MFJ 784B and the Timewave DSP-599zx. Best & 73, jamulc I pipe all my modern receivers (RX-320, RX-350, NRD-535D, R8A, R-500) into the Timewave DSP-599zx. It's there anytime I need it at the touch of a button. I do have to say, however that there are some excellent software dsp filters out there that are very effective. Some are free like Sr5. One is even built into a receiver control program - a killer combo in my opinion. It's called RxPlus. -- Brian Denley http://home.comcast.net/~b.denley/index.html |
