BBC - I wonder why no comments
A major shaking up of 'normal' programming/news on the BBC outlets
including SW over the weekend and no mentions or comments on the situation on this SW message board. I guess everyone is too preocupied with Fox News, politics, religion and other OT or borderline OT subjects that have far less to do with SW listening than programming interuptions at one of the 'majors'. Just some idle thoughts For more info on the subject if anyone is interested..... http://money.cnn.com/2005/05/23/news...c_strike.reut/ |
Could be either or both of:
1. This was anticipated. 2. Nobody noticed the difference in beeb programming...???? |

Having four thousand people lose their income really hurts. They should just can the head honcho for incompetence and use the money to pay wages. mike Well Mike that makes far too much sense and we can't have that now can we? Sad.... |

I know it's not directed to California, but nevertheless it usually comes in S9 and audible. Over the last week I've been lucky to get an S5 (and noisy) signal level. I noticed that The World Today sounded different on Sunday night (Monday morning UTC) but I couldn't hear it well enough to make out what they were saying. Wish I could, as it's some of the best programming around. Not much to talk about I guess, except to say I hope the BBC survives it is one of the few fairly trustworthy sources of information. Wish I could, as it's some of the best programming around. I find that 9825 at 0200 (The World Today) broadcast from Ascension (I think) to South America USUALLY comes in fairly well here in California. In the last couple weeks however, ever since that big solar storm, it's been really noisy and the signal level has been lower than usual (usually S9, lately been S3-S5). Other freqs to try are 15280 and 15360 (Asian service from Singapore and Thailand) after 0000 to fade out around 0300. This service has The World Today on at 0000, however, which is at the same time as my local evening TV news (5pm Pacific time)-gotta get the weather. 9740 also comes in fairly well in US early mornings US time. Not much to talk about I guess, except to say I hope the BBC survives it is one of the few fairly trustworthy sources of information. Indeed. They're not up to the standards that they were 20 years ago, but they're still pretty good, and they have a wide network of correspondents. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

They switch 15360 from Thailand to Singapore at 5:00 UTC (10 PM PDT) and that comes in pretty good here, at least this close to the solstice. And around 9:00 UTC, my 2 AM insomnia check showed that it was booming in strong enough that I though I was listening to the local FM NPR relay. I've also been getting 15565 and 11765?( or is that 11675), and 12095 (poorly) , too. Mark Zenier Washington State resident |
