5717 SAR Newbie Quest. ?

Hi,

Saw the SAR post re 5717 of a few days ago.

New at this.

Is this a very common, and often used SAR freq. ?
Any others used more often off of eastern seaboard (I'm outside of Boston) ?

Is it USB ?
