What is the difference between shortwave & ham radio? What can I do with
each that I can't with the other?
Thanks

Shortwave radio (SWR) is considered anything radio below 30Mhz be it
commercial, military, maritime or including amateur (HAM) radio. However,
there are amateur radio people above 30Mhz.

SWR listeners can listen broadcast from other countries while Amateur
radio operators (HAMS) can TALK to people in other countries. HAMS can
have transmitters.

Short Wave Listener (s/ing) is most often called SWL.
And many hams also are SWL.
SWR is also more commonly called HF.
