Bible already prophesies this... it's called Armageddon. And from what I've
read, we don't want it to happen if we can at all avoid it, since most of
life on Earth will be gone when it's over.

If we can contain the damage to the Middle East, it might not be too
bad. The only real downside in that case would be that most of the
world's oil supply would be inaccessible. But if we can have them hit
the cities, and keep the oil workers in underground shelters to protect
them from the radiation, then that wouldn't be too bad. The only rule is
that the US or Russia isn't allowed to intervene. Israel has nukes, and
the Arabs have chemical weapons, so it would be a nice complete kill.
