.... but come to think of it, that is the best reason to learn CW I
have ever heard--to be able to use phone and data transmission on
HF!!! I mean if "THE Wayne Green" recommends it!

The man is possibly the most famous "Con-Man-Ham" in existence!

ROFLOL!!!!!

Former publisher of anumber of mags founder of byte and 73 and few
others.

a ham who has made a decent a living by getting to pay to read his
opinions (always a neat trick when you can manage it, but leaves one
open to con man challenges)

Personaly I liked reading his stuff, but he was as seems comon to hams
in general abit too into the conspircy theory

But his comment on leanring Code to get on HF are obselete (learn code
to use data modes) with the NPRM form the FCC. I am certain he would
agree no reason anymore

Once upon a time, long long ago wasn't Wayne Green an editor of CQ?

Or like learning math in hexadecimal before using Excel.

Yea, I was buying CQ on the newsstand back in the late '60s after that
happened and they were trading nasty editorials. They canned his ass for
faking some pictures. Adding his call letters to a banner in a picutre
of a DXpedition that he really didn't go on (or something like that).

I once read that coloidal silver can mess you up if you aren't carefull
with it.An old guy who used to work at Delta Cotton Oil used to wear a
piece of copper wire around one of his ankles. He said it was for
draining off static electricity,he pronounced it,elecstwicty. Many years
ago, some folks would attatch a piece of chain underneath their cars and
trucks and let the other end of the chain drag the road.To drain off
static electricity,I suppose.

My gawd man have you lost your mind?

Wayne Greene is very important, and serves as an excellent example of the caliber of men found here--a kook which will appear on the art bell show selling colloidal silver, or rather, the materials to produce it with.

John

You do have a point. He does serve as a bad example.
