I think I can guess, but it does seem a more obscure term, especially
since it's specific to some radios.

I think it's "Computer Aided Tuning", at least from context. Some
radios have a serial port on the back, allowing you to hook up
a computer so you can tune from the computer, and more obviously
run software to do interesting things like scanning or going through
really large numbers of specific frequencies (like really large memory
for frequencies you want to remember).

It might be a term specific to one brand of radio, but I'm not sure. Since
I've never had a radio that has the ability, I've not paid much attention.

Would help if you gave context

But here are some

CAT
CAT is an abbreviation for Computer-Aided Tomography

Tomography
Tomography is the technique of using X-rays or ultrasound waves to procure
images of structures deep within the human body for diagnostic purposes. In
modern medical imaging there are several techniques, such as the CAT scan
(computerized axial tomography).

CAT computer-aided test

CATIS

CATIS is an abbreviation for Common Applications and Tools Integration
Services

CATV
CATV is an abbreviation for Common Antenna TeleVision; Community Antenna
TeleVision

CAT - Cathode

Cat Whisker -- A whisker like probe used in Crystal Radio

And of course CAT = Catalog as in Cat number

If your tv set (assuming you have a tv set) has a vacuum tube for the
picture tube and if you are watching tv,you are looking at a Cathode Ray
Tube.

I think it means "Computer Aided Transceiver" but, while the acronym is
commonly used, it's rare to find it expanded. The Icom CI-V protocol is a
specification for a CAT interface. There is a good listing of CAT
applications and interfaces at http://www.dk0tui.de/ham/ham_cat.html.
