I have a "Grundig TR II". I purchased it about 7 years ago for use
mainly on camping trips. I find that with the internal antenna it has limited reception, at least that is the way it seems to me. I do not think the radio is faulty. I suspect that if I put an external antenna on the radio it would pick up more stations. My question, has there been improvements in the reception sensitivity of small portable SW radios that would justify the purchase of a newer unit? Thanks for the help. Wakby |

Wakby Wakby: In answer to your question YES There has been noticeable improvement in Sensitivity of small portable SW radions recently.. that would justify the purchase of a new SW radio.. Think the TR II is a single reduction set, both mentioned above are Double reduction, which would give you a much cleaner signal ( see review ot Traveller II below) http://www2.rnw.nl/rnw/en/features/m...ers/yb320.html ( Not a good review, IMHO ) However, there is hope. See some Degen / tecsun reviews below http://www.radiointel.com/reviews.htm Currently running a Degen De1105.. Which is suitable for listening to Shortwave whilst walking about the house with said unit in a shirt pocket.. Also, check out the Degen De1103.. |
