From my scanning of R7 Ebay items over the past year, value for these on average is now up well past $1300 or more for specimens in excellent condition, with R7As fetching even higher: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5813581639 Eek. Mechanical bandswitch... Properly maintained, that bandswitch will outlive the mechanical encoders in today's radios. Sold my R7 and NB ( no add filters) for $600 6 years back. Although it was a nice RX and had better PBT than today's RX, I really do not miss it. Now, the Davco DR-30, will be buried with me: http://www.miami.muohio.edu/presiden...vers/davco.htm Dale W4OP |

If I ever decide to get funky with an old school radio again it'll likely be an R-388 that I stumble across (I'm not going to pay E-Bay prices for one). I've had the Hallis and couple 390As and have an NC-125 in the garage. The bands are so sucky so often it's hard to stay focused. |

The description says:
HIGH STABILITY LINEAR PERMEABILITY TUNED VFO AND FREQUENCY SYNTHESIZER Synthesizer? I owned 2 of them but it's been a few years ago .. don't remember 'em beign synthesized. PTO as I recall. The RV-75 was a synthesized VFO but I don't see that in the picture. |

If you ever decide to get "funky" in any sense, please let me know in
advance so that I can arrange to be far, far away. |

Try 75M AM at night -3880-3885KHz even into the wee hours. The ops there are using the heavy metal AM broadcast rigs many times- they sound superb, and the discussions are technical in nature. Dale W4OP |

The radio is pretty sensitive and very stable after only a few minutes, unlike the Hammarlunds which drift for hours. It's also quite accurate for the day. You can dial a station right to the KHz and it'll be there. You can also, as Peter Maus warned me a long time ago, develop a strong right arm cranking that band change knob. -- Brian Denley http://home.comcast.net/~b.denley/index.html |
